Following site visits this morning to Inter-County Bakery Supply and Frito-Lay, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman visited with rank-and-filers of Local 802 at Bimbo Bakeries in Baldwin, N.Y. Joined by Local 802 President James Shannon, O’Brien and Zuckerman met with the route sales professionals, route riders, field merchandising representatives, and utility drivers for Entenmanns’ and S.B. Thomas, brands under the Bimbo umbrella.



After meeting with Bimbo Bakeries members, the Teamsters leaders visited Local 802’s office staff to emphasize the indispensable role they play in advancing the priorities of thousands of Teamsters across Long Island, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.



This summer, Local 802 members at Bimbo Bakeries ratified a record contract, which includes an up to 40 percent wage increase, more employer-paid contributions toward health care, a uniform allowance, and a pay raise for holidays, and sick and personal days.



“The contract you won at Bimbo Bakeries shows what Teamsters can achieve when we refuse to back down,” O’Brien said. “The Teamsters are not slowing down until every worker at this company and in this industry has the wages, benefits, and protections that can only be achieved with a strong Teamsters contract.”
