Today, Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien is attending a hearing at the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pension Committee in a show of solidarity with Starbucks Workers United.
Committee Chairman U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is questioning Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz about widespread union-busting and at his company.
In addition to illegal attempts to break organized labor, Starbucks has refused to bargain in good faith with its partners.
"The fundamental issue we are confronting today is whether we have a system of justice that applies to all, or one where billionaires and large corporations can break the law with impunity," said Sanders.
