Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference, addressed a packed house at the annual Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference (BBSD) in Ft. Lauderdale, F.L. Hundreds of Teamsters from local unions across the country gathered to develop strategies for organizing more workers and winning historic contracts that set the industry standard.

In the last year alone, nearly 600 new Teamsters have been organized into the BBSD conference, including at Pepsi facilities in Georgia and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, where Teamsters are organizing wall-to-wall throughout the South. Teamsters at Breakthru Beverage facilities across Florida went on strike to win a strong first contract, while the strike threat at Bimbo Bakeries won major gains for Teamsters in Southern California.

"When we win in the brewery, bakery, and soft drink industries, we set a high standard for everyone working in food and beverage," O'Brien said. "We protect wages, we protect benefits, and we protect the people who make this country run. The Teamsters won't stop until all workers have the opportunity to secure the contract, job security, and respect they’ve earned."
