UNFI Workers in Texas Demand Teamsters Recognition

Workers at United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) in Lancaster, Texas, have formally demanded that the company recognize their right to form a union with the Teamsters. The group of 250 warehouse workers joins the growing ranks of UNFI workers nationwide who have organized with the Teamsters in recent years.



Earlier this year, drivers at the same Lancaster facility voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 745. With warehouse workers now moving to organize as well, The Lancaster UNFI operation is poised to become a wall-to-wall Teamsters shop.



UNFI is the largest distributor for Amazon-owned Whole Foods and has seen a surge in Teamsters organizing. Since 2022, more than 3,000 UNFI workers across the country have joined the Teamsters, winning higher wages, real retirement security through a defined benefit pension, and comprehensive Teamsters health care.
