Horseshoe Casino Workers Ready to Strike for Union Recognition with Teamsters

Horseshoe Casino dealers in Shelbyville, Ind., have voted by an overwhelming 92% to authorize a strike to secure recognition of Teamsters Local 135 as their union.

The 200 workers were scheduled to vote to join Local 135 on Friday, October 17. The ongoing government shutdown has delayed the election indefinitely, so the prospective Teamsters proposed using a neutral third party to conduct the vote as scheduled.

Horseshoe — which is owned by the multibillion-dollar company Caesar’s Entertainment — refused their demands, leaving the dealers no choice but to prepare to take direct action to get the strong Teamsters representation they deserve.
