Teamsters Local 315, family members, rank-and-file Teamsters, General President Sean M. O’Brien, and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman participated in a prayer vigil on Sunday night in memory and honor of a UPS Teamsters part-timer who tragically lost her life on the job last month.

The vigil, held outside the Richmond North Bay UPS facility near San Francisco, commemorated the life and labor of Local 315 member Shelma Reyna, a mother of five who passed away following a tragic incident inside a UPS trailer on Sept. 21. CAL-OSHA, the California Department of Industrial Relations, is continuing an ongoing investigation.

Sister Reyna’s family and co-workers, joined by Local 315 representatives and International Western Region Vice President Peter Finn, were in attendance this weekend to pay their respects and mourn the loss of a beautiful life cut far too short.

“The Teamsters’ 1.3 million members join the Reyna family in mourning and share their grief. We are bound together forever by our solidarity — and we must show up and be there for each another when tragedy befalls any one of our sisters and brothers,” O’Brien said. “We celebrate the life of an extraordinary Teamster, and our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this horrific event."
