This morning, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman attended Teamsters Local 70’s steward appreciation event in Oakland, California.



Joined by Felix Martinez, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 70, O’Brien spoke to shop stewards about the need for strong contract enforcement across industries. Local 70 represents thousands of workers, including Teamsters at Waste Management, PepsiCo, and other major employers. Recently, Teamsters at Pepsi’s Hayward warehouse ratified their first Teamsters contract.



“Winning a contract is just the first step, enforcing it is where the real fight begins,” O’Brien said. “Shop stewards are the front line of that fight, and their work ensures every member benefits from the gains achieved in the contract.”
