Teamsters from across the country gathered in Detroit on Thursday to kick off negotiations for a new National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA). Local union representatives and rank-and-file carhaulers participated in two-person meetings to review and finalize contract proposals. The current NMATA is set to expire on August 31.



“We are prepared to negotiate a strong national agreement that strengthens standards in the carhaul industry, improves wages and benefits, and delivers better working conditions for our members,” said Avral Thompson, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division and Chair of the NMATA National Bargaining Committee. “We’re entering this process united and focused, and we fully intend to reach a deal before the contract expires.”
