More than 90 Albertsons drivers in Dallas represented by Teamsters Local 745 have overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement. The new Teamsters contract secures higher wages, a defined benefit pension plan, Teamsters health care, and critical job protections against the threat of autonomous trucks.

The new Teamsters contract was reached after workers voted to authorize a strike in May and mounted a credible strike threat that drew national attention. Thousands of Albertsons Teamsters across the country pledged to honor picket lines.

Throughout negotiations, Albertsons pushed for dangerous contract language that would have opened the door to the use of fully autonomous trucks — part of a broader industry push to test and deploy driverless vehicles in Texas. Local 745 successfully beat back the proposal. The new contract mandates that any autonomous truck operated by the company must have a trained Teamsters operator on board.
