Teamsters Local 597 President Curtis Clough recently testified at the General and Housing Committee in the Vermont House of Representatives, where he called on the state’s lawmakers to support H.348 – “An act relating to protecting workers from extreme temperatures in the workplace.”

“Adequate cover from the sun, drinking water, guaranteed rest breaks, heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer, none of these are luxuries,” Clough said. “These are basic safety measures that will save lives, and they are not hard for employers to provide. State lawmakers need to do what’s right and pass this bill.”

Teamsters are advocating for similar legislation in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
