United Airlines Teamsters Rally Nationwide for Strong New Contract
Today, United Airlines Teamsters rallied at 10 airports across the country to demand the strongest possible new contract at the carrier. With two rounds of negotiations this month resulting in United reaching tentative agreement on a single article, Teamsters know the airline is slow-walking bargaining to avoid delivering an industry-leading contract for thousands of United aircraft technicians.
“United Airlines has one of the largest fleets in the world and rakes in billions in profits every year. But the dividends do not trickle down to the workers who are actually responsible for keeping United’s planes in the air,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “United thinks that they can divide and take advantage of workers by dragging its feet in bargaining. The Teamsters have other plans. I’m proud that Teamsters at United Airlines are fighting as one and letting the company know that enough is enough. We will secure a record contract, despite United’s games and ongoing disrespect.”
Negotiations are set to continue September 16.
