To date, the BMWED bargaining team has been actively engaging with any willing and serious Class I freight railroads ahead of the November moratorium.
Typically, National Bargaining rounds wait until the moratorium period has passed before negotiations commence. However, if both labor and the carriers agree, bargaining can begin ahead of that November deadline.
The BMWED team has met with several Class I freights so far, though no tentative agreements have been reached yet. The leadership is aware that members often feel frustrated by the prolonged pace of previous bargaining rounds, which have sometimes led to the expiration of existing collective bargaining agreements.
With this in mind, we are working diligently to accelerate the negotiation process.
As part of this effort, we have launched a new survey that builds on the more detailed and extensive 2023 bargaining survey. This current survey is designed to accurately assess the priorities of our membership.
If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to complete the survey, which was sent to the email address and/or phone number (text) we have on file for you.
If you did not receive the link and personalized code for the survey or need to update your email address, please click this link:
