The Teamsters Union commends Gov. J.B. Pritzker for signing the Illinois Worker Freedom of Speech Act into law.
The legislation bans mandatory attendance at captive audience meetings, which is a key state legislative priority for the Teamsters. In the last two years, seven Teamsters-backed bills to ban captive audience meetings have been signed into law.
"This victory happened because of a grassroots lobbying campaign by and for rank-and-file union members in our state, and the Teamsters were the frontline of that battle," said Thomas W. Stiede, President of Teamsters Joint Council 25.
