As Teamsters continue to honor Black History Month, we remember A. Philip Randolph, a great labor leader and civil rights leader who brought the message of trade unionism to millions of Black workers.
Randolph led a 10-year campaign to organize the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and served as the union's first president. He also directed the March on Washington movement to end employment discrimination in the defense industry and a national civil disobedience campaign to ban segregation in the armed forces.
