So , let’s see how this is going to work this weekend. Will Paff welcome O’Brien on one day and sponsor the teamsters against Trump the next day? We have all heard that TDU has nothing to do with teamsters against Trump ! Yeah right! Hey Paff what are you going to do if O’Brien starts rallying against the democrats in his speech? Will you sit there in silence with a room full of the Butch Lewis act supporters? Are you allowed to speak while you have your seat at the table?

The TDU members should get up and walk out when O’Brien gets up to speak, the same way O’Brien and the rest of the red vests used to walk out at the convention. They even walked out on Zuckerman when he spoke! -

Now remember TDU, according to O’Brien’s mom , you can argue at the table BUT don’t take it outside! So remember no more public criticism of ANYTHING! The new motto of TDU should be “ if you see something , say NOTHING”!

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman helped kick off the 2024 convention of Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) on Friday night in Chicago.
The annual affair includes workshops, guest speakers, and other opportunities for rank-and-file Teamsters to learn more about contract enforcement, member engagement, and building worker power.
O’Brien emphasized the importance of member collaboration and union solidarity as the Teamsters International Union dramatically increases successful organizing campaigns nationwide — at Amazon, Costco, the American Red Cross, UPS, and other major employers. In just the past two-and-a-half years under O’Brien and Zuckerman, the Teamsters have organized 57,000 new members into the union.
“The Teamsters are operating more aggressively and with more militancy today than ever before. And together we are making our powerful and influential union bigger, faster, and stronger,” O’Brien told TDU convention attendees. “This is our time as Teamsters. Taking on Amazon and welcoming more workers into our union will define the labor movement for generations to come. We need all hands on deck.”

As they say once the watchdog now the lap-dog. More concerned about their IBT paychecks and income stream then anything else.
Lots of new members attending but growth is based on what is now an old reputation for speaking out, that has faded completely. Nobody raises a question agianst authority at the new TDU. It's really little more than a club of well meaning follks that get together once a year and haven't realized their looking more like an uncritical cult of personality than a democratic organization.Comment

I heard the Trumps name was never even mentioned this weekend! So glad all those reformers attending gave O’Brien a free ride. All those advocates for our pensions in attendance gave standing ovations . The word that was given was “ fluke” when O’Brien aide was asked about Biden admin. passing the Butch Lewis act, “ it was a fluke “ . Guess everyone had a seat at the table.Comment

It is not the same organization it used to be , it is now the tool of O’Brien. -
That is certainly evident since O’Brien went from being suspended for threatening TDU members to being their guest speaker! I guess it was the biggest one yet since now it’s acceptable for locals to send members with O’Brien’s blessing. -
Old news Nickjamesups. This isn't 2013 anymore, considering the 7 years of Sean working with the people he threatened. He did that at the bidding of those previously above him (Hoffa Hall), who were big into retaliation. Hoffa Hall 100% isolated and retaliated against their political opponents. When Sean and Fred embrace other Teamsters, working together, members don't feel like they will be fighting the IBT when trying to get something done in their Local. -
So you are excusing O’Brien being a threatening thug because it was at Hoffa’s bidding? Old news? What’s he done since taking over the ibt? How many cases of discrimination ? Retaliation? How much have we paid out in law suits? How much back pay has he had to pay by court order?
