"The U.S. government should stay the f*** out of this fight and allow union workers to withhold their labor for the wages and benefits they have earned," the union said in a press release issued on September 30. "Any workers—on the road, in the ports, in the air—should be able to fight for a better life free of government interference. Corporations for too long have been able to rely on political puppets to help them strip working people of their inherent leverage."
This I agree with. Stay out of the strike just like the rail workers strike.-
We've never invoked Taft-Hartley to break a strike and are not considering doing so now," a Biden administration official told Reuters. "We encourage all parties to remain at the bargaining table and negotiate in good faith." -
Wait a minute , isn’t that the dick steppers way of speaking?
When someone calls him out on this is he going to say “ I meant let’s get some coffee and talk about it Mr. President?
Isn’t that what he meant when he called out that Senator?

President Biden previously confirmed the federal government would not be taking action to prevent the walkout. A strike could be mitigated for a stretch by the president invoking the Taft-Hartley Act, which allows the government to intervene in any labor dispute that could threaten national security or safety by imposing an 80-day cooling-off period. This period would force workers back on the job as negotiations proceed.

1. What the f**k happened to the April 11 memo on staff behavior and appearance that included "no use of inappropriate or foul language." Has it been revoked so people can start growing hair and beards again? Or, after every administration since Ron Carey has tried to upgrade the image of the mob dominate Teamsters and erase the memories of the 1950s-1970s, is it ok to be portrayed as thugs again? Make Teamsters Thugs Again? Fits on a hat.
2. Did the IBT notice the Biden administration's press release urging the Shippers to pony up more money and praising the ILA members for keeping the ports open during the pandemic? Kinda the same support the administration gave to the UAW during its strike. Still want them to mind their own business?Comment

More tough talk cleared no doubt by the Tough Guy SOB. When the Hoffa, Jr. GP and Executive Board implemented the prior UPS contract, despite rejection again and again by UPS members working under contract supplements, O'Brien as JC10 Secretary-Treasurer and IBT VP announced at the JC10 Delegate Meeting that the IBT would be doing so and that it had to be implemented, that the member demands pending under the supplements had to take a back seat to a deal with UPS. As a JC10 delegate, I spoke from the floor mic that there were others in the room (Local 25 Hall) that were 1991 IBT Convention delegates, and they should remember that the IBT Constitution was amended to require separate supplement votes for a very important reason. Prior to that Convention, there were Locals (particularly in freight) that were bargaining and agreeing to supplement language that undercut other supplements. This was a big draw for freight carriers like Roadway and CF to put their breakbulk facilities in locations with weaker supplements. Winning this Constitutional change was a key component of the now missing TDU Rank and File Bill of Rights.Comment
