TEAMSTERS FIGHT FOR RESPECT AS DHL WASTES TIME
DHL told the Teamsters negotiating committee at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) that management will not return to the bargaining table this year after December 7.
This latest show of disrespect comes after months of uncooperative posturing by the global shipping giant. During negotiations today, DHL negotiators continued to push insulting demands that would allow it to mistreat workers at CVG.
The Teamsters have filed a slew of unfair labor practice charges against DHL at CVG for retaliating against pro-union workers and surveilling offsite union activity. The National Labor Relations Board has issued a complaint for these charges and a trial is underway.
Meanwhile, management wants total control over shifts, departments, and crews, including regular system-wide rebidding that would reduce ramp and tug workers to interchangeable cogs in a machine with no voice on the job.
The Teamsters will not accept any artificial timeline from DHL and will hold the company accountable for its delays and obstruction. Time is running out for DHL. What happens next is up to the company.
“DHL has wasted enough time and needs to deliver on the fair contract Teamsters deserve—or this company will leave our members with no choice but to strike,” said Bill Hamilton, Director of the Teamsters Express Division. “This company understands what is at stake. The clock is ticking for DHL to act and remedy its unfair labor practices.”
