After meeting with Local 703 members at US Foods in Chicago, Teamsters Warehouse Division Director Tom Erickson and division representatives joined striking IKEA Teamsters in Joliet, Illinois. Joined by Chris Richter, President of Teamsters Local 179, Erickson met with members on the picket line and pledged the Warehouse Division’s full support as workers continue their fight for a strong first contract.



The 190 warehouse workers joined the Teamsters in March and were forced on strike earlier this week. IKEA Teamsters represented by Local 179 are demanding a contract that includes higher wages, additional paid sick time, and protections against unchecked automation.
