Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien was in Michigan this morning to speak at the graduation ceremony for Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education (I.G.N.I.T.E.).



I.G.N.I.T.E. is a program spearheaded by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson — the Teamsters-backed candidate for Governor of Michigan — to provide second chances to incarcerated people and help prevent recidivism through education and job training programs.



"The I.G.N.I.T.E. program is opening doors, creating possibilities, and changing lives," O'Brien said. "Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. The certificate you’re receiving represents much more than completing a program. It represents commitment and courage. The best chapter of your story is still ahead of you."
