35 Allied Aviation supervisors voted to unionize with Teamsters Local 533, joining over 300 fuelers and mechanics at JFK International Airport. They oversee key fueling, delivery, and maintenance operations at one of the nation’s busiest airports.



This victory follows a two-year campaign marked by delays and intimidation by the employer. The workers are now seeking higher wages, stronger workplace protections, and a strong voice on the job.



“These workers have a huge responsibility, keeping planes fueled and operations running safely,” said Demos Demopoulos, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 553. “The group was challenged and challenged again, but they never backed down. It’s a win that shows when working people stick together, no amount of delay or intimidation can stop them.”
