Local 519 members Scott Arnwine and Tori Allen recently went to the state capitol in Nashville to discuss motorist safety issues with elected officials. In meetings with State Representatives Kelly Keisling, Lowell Russell, Paul Sherrell and State Sen. Richard Briggs, Teamsters emphasized the need for human operator requirements in state regulations concerning driverless vehicles.

"There's no reason Tennessee residents should have to choose between innovation and highway safety, and requiring a trained human operator in driverless trucks provides the best of both worlds," said Wes Trotterchaud, President of Local 519. "We look forward to having more productive conversations with lawmakers so we can draft commonsense guardrails around this technology."
