More than 150 workers at facilities under the Bimbo Bakeries USA umbrella in the New York area overwhelmingly ratified a strong new contract with Teamsters Local 553.

By a 3-to-1 margin, Local 553 members voted for a three-year contract that includes better pay, increased commissions, and higher merchandising pay. The Teamsters agreement also includes a raise in pay for working on holidays, a paid birthday, and three additional paid personal days.

“We stood together and won a strong Teamsters contract that’s one of the best we’ve ever had,” said Mark Arnau, a Local 553 steward and 33-year driver. “I’m proud to be a Teamster and to have a strong union that represents and looks out for its members.”
