Teamsters Local 665 has won reinstatement for a member at Vulcan Materials who was unjustly fired nearly a year ago. Following an arbitrator’s ruling, the member was awarded $200,000 in back pay.



“There were problems in the past with the booster equipment, and the company was aware of it,” said Joe Ferguson, the reinstated member of Local 665. “The union’s investigation showed this to be the case, and now I’m back to work. I am glad to have the protections of a Teamsters contract."



Strong grievance protections in the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement provided the tools needed to sustain a year-long fight. When the termination first occurred, Local 665’s Executive Board knew how important the matter was.
